If you’ve recently lost a tooth, our dentists may recommend a dental bridge to restore your smile. Like the name suggests, a dental bridge “bridges” the gap in your smile left by a missing tooth.
Dental Bridges Process
To prepare your teeth for the dental bridge procedure, our dentists will need to remove enamel from adjacent teeth so the crowns can fit over top. We’ll then take impressions of your teeth to send to the lab. It’ll take several weeks for your tooth restoration to be made, which is why we’ll fit a temporary dental bridge to protect your smile in the meantime.
When you return for your second appointment, your permanent dental bridge will be ready. Our dentist will make sure the bridgework is the right color, shape, and size so it looks natural with the rest of your smile. Unlike partial dentures, you don’t have to worry about your tooth bridge slipping out of place because it is anchored by surrounding teeth.
Our dentists will be able to explain your tooth replacement options (including dental bridges) during your consultation. To schedule your appointment with one of our Westland dentists, call Parkside Dental Team at (734) 261-6060.
